ASIIN (Akkreditierungsagentur fur Studiengange der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik) is a credible international accreditation body recognised by the Indonesian government through Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 83/P/2020. This German-based accreditation body targets engineering, maths and science, and agriculture disciplines. In addition, this accreditation agency already has experience assessing thousands of international study programmes. The ASIIN accreditation agency’s visit to Hasanuddin University’s Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA Unhas) involved two departments, namely Statistics and Physics on 28-29 February 2023. The Department of Statistics has fulfilled the ASIIN accreditation requirements in the form of contract approval by the University of Hasanuddin (Unhas) with the accreditation agency along with several things that need to be included. Campuses that want to be accredited need to show an evaluation of the achievement of programme outcomes and ongoing curriculum and the institution shows its commitment in facilitating the implementation of Outcome Based Education (OBE). The Department of Statistics has made several preparations in order to participate in these activities, one of which is tidying up the study programme website which will later be checked for completeness by ASIIN. In addition, preparation of various documents is also carried out to be submitted to ASIIN.
This series of accreditations began with a visit by the assessor team to the Statistics department on Wednesday, 28 February 2023. The team of assessors who attended were Natalia Vega as ASIIN Officer, Setyawan Purnomo Sakti as professor of Brawijaya University, Gert-Ludwig Ingold as professor of Augburg University, Ulrich Stadtmuller as professor of ULM University. Nurkholis Wahyudi Fachrudin is an employee of PT Sahabat Solusi Berkah, and Jihan Shfiyah ZT is a student of Universitas Brawijaya. The rooms visited were classrooms, computing laboratories, and statistics laboratories to evaluate the facilities in the Statistics undergraduate study programme. The next activity was an interview as an ASIIN assessment with students and alumni. The event was attended by Sheilla Amanda Sulistyo, Muhammad Rayhan Arman, Nabila Miftakhurriza, Nur Aliah Ramadhani, Andi Muhammad Hakam, Muhammad Alfaridzi, and Syalwa as representatives of the student and alumni team. The assessment team will assess curriculum topics, goals and expectations of each study programme, facilities for students, and international exchange.
